Listen to your body!!

Yes listen to your vessel! It is the only one we have!!!
Yesterday I was in the gym and wanted to do a workout oh so badly! But my body was not having it. So after a warmup I decided to concentrate on body work (stretching, rolling on a lacrosse ball, and foam rolling). It was much needed and I recommend at least once a week to any person exercising at least 2-3 times per week!! You will be surprised how it helps. So if you walk into the gym one day and your body is saying "No", listen to it and take the day off. It wont kill you I promise....
If you are feeling crappy still after a day of repair then check your sleep patterns! I, for one, am very guilty of a BAD sleep pattern!! I never get consistent sleep and now my body is paying for it because I feel like a congested sack of rocks!! If you want a couple tips to set a routine for a healthy sleeping habit click http://marksdailyapple.com/insomnia-sleep-tips/.
So again listen to your body and save yourself from injury, depression, and lack of mental clarity!!

Goals Before Sectionals

Alrighty.... Time to get down to the nitty gritty!! These are a couple of my goals to obtain before sectionals or by mid April. I have started unweighed paleo. I actually feel really great. The hard part is eating enough quality food and staying in ketosis. So if you see me, ask me how I am doing to keep me focused!! Here is to 2010!

Oh Muscle Ups!!

The benchmark WOD of 30 Muscle Ups gave me a lesson..... Mind over matter!!! First, a muscle up is a very basic movement in the gymnastic realm and takes a lot of strength, coordination, agility, and balance. I thought I was knocking out the muscle ups pretty well and keeping good form until I hit number 14. I then had about 8 failed attempts, which took the confidence out of me and I just wanted to throw in the towel because I was mostly just embarrassed. I had never attempted this work out for the same reasons that probably my clients think when they walk in and see the WOD... FEAR and DOUBT! Then I started to put 2 together. Then 1 at a time. And fellow Crossfitters were yelling at me to finish. And as a coach I CANNOT quit because that would make me a hypocrite. So at the end of it I had a proud time of 12:22!! It was a feat I had been avoiding for months! So thank you Jesse and Jevon and the rest of the class for motivating me to knock it out. So to all of you don't avoid things because of fear. Attack it!! And you will be surprised at what you learn or relearn about yourself!!
